Health care providers have a unique opportunity to become the first point of contact in identifying and providing assistance to human trafficking victims. This activity is designed to educate physicians and health care practitioners on human trafficking and provide information on a trauma-informed and patient-centered approach to providing care and education, increasing identification, and responding appropriately to persons who are at risk or have experienced trafficking. The on-demand activity is available to UTSW and community healthcare providers and will provide practitioners with information on forms of human trafficking, global and national impact, red flags, health risks and resources to respond in health care and advocate for their patients.

This course was approved by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) on March 24, 2026, in accordance with the Texas Occupations Code for health care practitioner licensure renewal requirements.

Human trafficking courses are reviewed and approved based on the standards established by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

LEARNING OUTCOME

After participating in this activity, the learner will be able to identify signs of human trafficking.
